C20 – Proactive rit: improving firefighter rescue and survival

2 hrs Classroom session, (Wednesday May 23rd, 1330 hrs)

This class will discuss the positive impact that proactive RIT can have on a firefighter rescue. Softening the building and ground ladders are the primary proactive actions that should be performed by RIT but they are not the only actions that can be taken. During this class we will discuss what proactive actions RIT can and cannot perform as well as discuss how to perform these actions. Firefighter rescue and survival is the mission of RIT, not who performs the rescue but that the rescue is successful. This requires the RIT to take proactive actions prior to a firefighter emergency occurring to increase the chances of a successful firefighter rescue.
