Class Details

This class will offer the firefighter an interactive presentation and a hands-on opportunity to resuscitate and medically treat a fire victim. Special attention will be paid to burns, carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide poisoning, respiratory burns, and other associated injuries. Participants will have the opportunity to conduct hands-on skills by starting an IO, mixing a Cyanokit, establishing an airway, and treating a burn.

    Nick Adams

    Captain, Cobb County Fire Dept.

    Nick began his EMS career in 1992, as a volunteer at an agency in Southwestern Virginia. Three years later, after relocating to Georgia, he became a member of the Georgia Army National Guard. Concurrently, he served with CareLine EMS (which later became known as American Medical Response) and Mountain Park Fire & Rescue. Nick went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management before earning a Master of Public Administration degree from Jacksonville State University. In 1998, his career with Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services took off. He currently holds the rank of EMS Operations Captain and continues to serve the community of Marietta as a Paramedic. In 2017, Nick was recognized for his ongoing effort to advance the EMS profession and was named “EMS Advocate of the Year.” Nick serves on the Board of Directors for both the Georgia EMS Association and the Metro Atlanta EMS Conference (of which he is a founding member).
